Get to know me!

Hi everyone! I’m so glad you’re here! Some of you might know who I am, but for those of you who don’t I want to take some time for you to get to know me!

Hi, my name is Allison Ornelas, but most of my friends and family call me Allie, so you can too! I am a soon to be graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma. I adore my friends and family and I am a passionate young women who strives for success in everything I do.

UCO/Major

In 2018 I started my academic career at the University of Central Oklahoma. I always knew I wanted to go to a school like UCO. It’s the perfect mix of being away from home, but not too far and still getting that college experience. I felt right at home when I visited the campus and knew that’s where I wanted to go. It has been my home away from home and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Coming into college I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I started off as a business major, but very quickly knew that wasn’t for me. I have a passion for helping people and building a deep connection with them. I had a sorority sister that was a Strategic Communications major and when she was telling me about her classes I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

So here I am about to start my senior year, having a duel degree in Strategic Communications and Organizational Communications, with a minor in leadership. I adore the Mass Communications department and feel so comfortable and confident in what I have learned and truly have enjoyed my time with my professors and classmates.

Extracurriculars

As I look back on my time at UCO I can’t help but think of the organizations that I got involved in that have made such a significant impact on my life.

One of the organizations that I got involved in is called Big Event. Big Event is a student lead organization that organizes the largest day of service at UCO. We organize over 500 student who go out and volunteer in the local community. It is such a special organization and I truly enjoyed my time being apart of it. It reminds me that I am apart of something bigger than myself and to always strive to serve others.

Coming into college I knew I wanted to be involved in Greek Life, but at the time I didn’t know much about it and what chapter I would end up calling “home”. I quickly found the ladies of Sigma Kappa and I knew that was the group a women I wanted to be apart of.

I quickly made connections and relationships that were stronger than any relationship I had in high school. I have found my forever friends that inspire me beyond my dreams, have been with me through my highs and lows, my future bridesmaids and life long friends. I’m forever thankful for Sigma Kappa for the memories, friendships and the impact it has had on my life. I am forever changed, for the better, because of Sigma Kappa.

It has played a significant role in my college career and has shaped me into who I am today, and for that I’m forever grateful.

After School

The golden question right now in my life is what I’m planning on doing after college. I’m fully confident that whatever opportunities come in my path that I will will take full advantage of them. I’m currently looking for an internship in communications that will provide me with professional experience in the communication field, that might lead to a potential job, after I’m done with school.

Five years from now I hope that I have landed a job where I am happy what I’m doing, love the people I’m working with and pursing a senior level job.

I am open to all the opportunities that will come my way and keeping an open heart and mind when it comes to my future.
